Why we moved billing to a Merchant of Record
Selling software globally means dealing with VAT, GST, sales tax, invoicing rules, and chargebacks across dozens of jurisdictions. It is a lot of undifferentiated work that has nothing to do with building a better dev environment.
What a Merchant of Record changes
We now process payments through Polar as our Merchant of Record. Polar is the legal seller of record for your purchase, which means it handles:
- Tax calculation, collection, and remittance worldwide.
- Invoices and receipts.
- Payment-method support and fraud/chargeback handling.
For customers in Vietnam, payments are processed via PayOS instead, with the same hands-off experience.
What it means for you
Nothing changes about how you use Swork Team. At checkout you will see the Merchant of Record handling the transaction, and your receipts come from them. Refunds go back through the same processor — see our Refund Policy for the details.
Your card details are never stored by us; payment data is handled entirely by the processor.
